Responsible Gambling (Responsible Play)
Spinnewsdaily.com provides news and information. We do not provide gambling services. If you choose to gamble, please do so safely and within the law in New Zealand.
Practical ways to stay in control
- Set a budget (money and time) before you start, and stop when you reach it.
- Don’t chase losses. Losses are part of gambling and are not “due” to turn around.
- Avoid gambling when stressed, upset, or using alcohol/drugs.
- Keep gambling separate from paying bills, rent, and essential expenses.
- Only gamble if you are of legal age for the product/venue (age limits vary by activity in NZ).
Limits and blocking tools
Depending on where you gamble, you may be able to use:
- Deposit/spend limits, session time limits, and reality checks.
- Cooling-off periods and account breaks.
- Device/app or website blocking tools, and bank/payment blocks where available.
Self-exclusion in New Zealand
If gambling is becoming a problem, you can ask a gambling venue or operator to exclude you. In NZ, many venues must have processes for exclusions under the Gambling Act. You can also contact free support services (below) for guidance on making an exclusion plan and staying safe.
